| Born: July 3, 1903 (Bracebridge, Ontario) Died: April 7, 1992 Irvine Bailey, better known as 'Ace' was one of the NHL's top left wingers, until his career came to a sudden, brutal halt due to a vicious check by EddieShore of the BostonBruins. The hit was so vicious that it was feared Bailey would die. He recovered, but never played hockey again. A benefit game was played for Bailey, which is widely held as the precursor to current NHL All-Star games. Ace Bailey Hockey Cards
