Beckettpedia FAQ
.

SummaryThe official Beckettpedia FAQ

What is Beckettpedia?

  • Beckettpedia is a FREE online collaborative encyclopedia featuring sports and non-sports collectibles information, created and maintained by collectors around the world!

Who can contribute to Beckettpedia?

  • Anyone with collectibles knowledge is free to contribute to Beckettpedia. The collaborative nature of this project allows anyone to edit current topics or add new ones.

How do I edit or add information to a page?

  • Once you have located an existing page you wish to edit or add information to, you can click on the EDIT link on the left hand side of the page. You can then make your changes and hit the SAVE button, which will record your changes into the Beckettpedia database.

How do I create a new topic within Beckettpedia?

  • The first way to create a new topic is to look for words or phrases with broken lines underneath the letters. The broken lines indicate that the word or phrase you are looking at is ready to be used to create a page. Simply click on the word or phrase and you will be brought to a fresh, clean page where you can begin writing about that topic.
  • The second way to create a topic is similar to the one above, but gives you control over what topics you want to create. If you are reading through a Beckettpedia article and see a word or group of words that you wish to form a topic about, you can simply turn the group of words into PascalCase - meaning two or more words squished together, like UpperDeck or MichaelJordan. The phrase must have at least two words squished together with two capital letters in the phrase. Upper Deck becomes UpperDeck and Michael Jordan becomes MichaelJordan.
  • The third way to create a topic is to click on the blue topic name at the top of any Beckettpedia page. By clicking on the blue topic name, it will ask you to enter the name of the page you wish to create and hit the enter key. Please note that this will allow you to create a page, but that page won't necessarily be linked to any text on the site at this time.

What is PascalCase?

  • For more info on how to use PascalCase on Beckettpedia, please go to the PascalCase page for more information.

How do I make text bold in my Beckettpedia article?

  • In order to make text bold within Beckettpedia, you need to put an asterisk before the word or phrase you wish to bold, and also as asterisk after the word or phrase you wish to bold.
