Edwards went to the University of Michigan like his father, StanleyEdwards. In his last year at Michigan, he set single season records for receiving with 97, and yards with 1,330. He also set Michigan career records with 252 receptions, 3,541 yards, and 39 receiving touchdowns. In his senior year, he won the FredBiletnifoff Award for the Nations top wide receiver. During his first two years, he wore number 80, but in his junior and senior year he wore number 1.

                                        With the Browns

In the 2004 NFL draft, he was taken 3rd overall by the Browns. He droped down to the third receiver because of a hold out. Early in the season, Edwards said he had a staph infection, and missed some time due to that. After he came back from the infection, he was in the starting line-up. He caught 3 touchdowns, and 512 yards before injuring his knee. He had surgery in the offseason of the 2006 season, he rehabed with the Browns tightend KellenWinslowJr. He was promoted to the number one receiver after JoeJurivicius suffered an injury.
