Carey Price was drafted by the MontrealCanadiens 5th overall during the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. The summer 2005 was very exciting. Because of the lockout the previous season, the NHL decided that it would hold a lottery to see who would get the first pick overall. Montreal made it to the final 5 choices. SidneyCrosby was the prize pick that year, and was a fan of Les Canadiens all his short life. Needless to say, Pittsburgh ended up with the number one pick, and Montreal received the number 5 pick. There were a number of highly skilled skaters that could have been Canadiens, however Mr. Gainey and staff were looking to the future, and had the goaltending position in mind. They took Carey 5th overall, and the rest is history, or will be. During the 2004-05 WHL season, Carey just 17 years old finished the season with a 24/27/4 record. However he recorded career high 8 shutouts, and that caught the eye of the Canadiens staff. 2005-06 he was 21/25/3 This season has been cut short, he’s been playing multiple International tournaments, and made the final cut for Team Canada for the 2007 WJHC in Sweden. Carey Price (future legend), has played outstanding during the 2007 World Junior Championship. On Friday 5 Jan 2007, Carey will attempt to backstop the Canadians for the Gold Medal against a strong Team Russia. EDIT: Canada wins, Carey is Tourny MVP!!!!!! Lastly. During the Canadiens tryouts in Sept 2006, Carey blew away the competition. Many scouts and fans alike said he was better than Huet, Aebischer, and Danis. However the Canadiens are grooming him properly and sent him back to his team in Tri Cities. Written by Sholi2000 the Hobbyist See my Carey Price Collection at Sholi2000.com |
