Chris Shelton was drafted in the 33rd round by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2001, but later picked up in the Rule V draft by the Detriot Tigers. Shelton mania struck in early 2006 after this unknown first basemen hit 11 homeruns in the month of April and challenged only by Albert Pujols as the leaders in homeruns. However Shelton mania quickly disapated after he hit only 5 more homeruns the rest of the season. Despite that he helped the Tigers get an early lead in the AL Centeral.
