Nicknamed Pudge, Ivan Rodriguez has made quite a name for himself. Known as one of the best defensive catchers in baseball today, Ivan was signed as a free agent in 1988 by the Texas Rangers. He spent 12 seasons with the Rangers before becoming a Free Agent and going to the Marlins where he won a World Series ring. Now, he may well be on his way to a second with the Detriot Tigers in 2006. 13 All-Star appearances, 1 MVP, and 11 Gold Gloves will cement Pugh as one of the best ever.

Chris Shelton was drafted in the 33rd round by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2001, but later picked up in the Rule V draft by the Detriot Tigers. Shelton mania struck in early 2006 after this unknown first basemen hit 11 homeruns in the month of April and challenged only by Albert Pujols as the leaders in homeruns. However Shelton mania quickly disapated after he hit only 5 more homeruns the rest of the season. Despite that he helped the Tigers get an early lead in the AL Centeral.
