Grading Process

Several factors such as rarity, demand and condition are key in determining the value of your trading cards, ultimately condition equals price.

The process of grading at Global reflects years of refinements. This these refinements assures a smooth organized approach when handling your prized cards. The moment your shipment arrives at Global, your order is confirmed to match the submission form sent with your cards. Your cards are then assigned a random sequence of numbers, which is unique to your submission. These unique sequence numbers are used in tracking your cards throughout the grading process and to insure against any possible conflicts of interest.

The moment your cards enter the grading room they are examined first for tampering (restoration, re-coloring trimming are considered before the grading process begins) because manufacturing originality is the first evaluation priority. Two separate and independent graders evaluate each card. Using a variety of conventional and proprietary grading techniques, cards undergo the grading process. Information regarding each card is recorded into Global’s database by each grader. Each grader’s analysis is then verified and finalized before each card receives its final grade (Grading Scale). Detailed information about the cards grade’s and variety is automatically converted to bar code and serial numbers. This new coded information is then printed on to a Global flip (certificate) and affixed to the holder. After the flip and holder are matched, a technician seats a proper inorganic eyelet to the card in a manner that cradles all edges and corners of the sports card while in the holder. Once a card receives its grade, it is now generally “liquid” and can be marketed by collector or dealer through various means such as Internet auctions, tradeshows and mail order.
