In a few words--- with kudos to Red Auerbach, Bill Russell, Bob Cousy, KC Jones, Sam Jones, Tommy Heihnson--- Larry is considered the GREATAST Celtic by the Celtic Nation.

The reasons-- many. Skill? Had it all. Could run the floor, shoot the perimeter, grab an offensive board and outlet a blind pass, then race the floor to complete a layup. Defense? Deficient when he first came in, he built himself up so well even Jordan gave him Kudos. Magic Johnson considered him his greatest rival. Bob Cousy called him as fierce a competitor as he had ever seen. The Heart of Celtic Nation-- Red Auerbach-- call him a dream player. Never to worry about-- he would be there game day, hours before teammates, to perfect the shooting stroke. Bird never complained about "playing time", his "contribution level", or "off day". He just didnt do it-- he worked. And then worked some more. And then, when he was considered the best-- worked harder. He was white--- and knew he was slow, knew his competitors Magic and Michael had quicker first steps, knew his own teammate Dennis Johnson handled a ball better. So he learned-- and learned more.
