In 1998, Prior was drafted by the NewYorkYankess, but was unable to sign with them. When he re-entered the draft in 2001, he was drafted by the ChicagoCubs. He was the second pick, after the MinnesotaTwins superstar JoeMauer. Prior debuted with the Cubs on May 22 of 2002, he picked up the win pitching 6 innings with 10 strikeouts. He finished 6-6 on the season. In 2003, he finished 18-6. He lost time due to an injury in a collision with Braves 2nd Baseman MarcusGiles. He made his first start of the season on June 18th against the DetriotTigers. He was taken out after 3 innings, after giving up 6 runs in the first. He finished the season with a 1-6 record.
