The Maple Leafs are one of the OriginalSix franchises of the NationalHockeyLeague. Throughout their history, the Leafs have won the StanleyCup 11 times, and had 35 members of the HockeyHallofFame suit up in the blue and white.

Leafs captain MatsSundin started the 2006-2007 season off with a bang for the franchise, notching his 500th goal in style - shorthanded, OT winner and to finish off his hat trick on October 14th against the CalgaryFlames.

Retired Numbers (2)

The Maple Leafs only retire numbers in the case of players who made a significant contribution to the Leafs hockey club and who experienced a career ending incident while a member of the Club. Barilko and Bailey are the only two players to meet this criteria. In order to honour other players who have made significant contributions, the Maple Leafs have a policy of 'Honoured Numbers' for other players. These numbers are commemorated by banners hanging in the rafters of the ACC, but they remain in circulation for current players.

Honoured Numbers

In the 2006-2007 season, 6 current Maple Leafs will be suiting up in jerseys featuring Honoured Numbers. AndrewRaycroft (#1), IanWhite (#7) AlexanderSuglobov (#9), AlexanderSteen (#10), JohnPohl (#21), and MichaelPeca (#27).
