Travis Zajac was drafted by the NewJerseyDevils in the 1st round (20th overall) of the 2004 NHLEntryDraft. When he was drafted he had just finished a Junior 'A' season with Salmon Arm of the BCHL. From there, Zajac moved on to the North Dakota Fighting Sioux of the NCAA for college hockey. After two seasons of NCAA hockey, Zajac left the Fighting Sioux and signed with the Devils (April 13, 2006) in time to join their Albany based farm club in the AmericanHockeyLeague. He made his NationalHockeyLeague debut at the beginning of the 2006-2007 hockey season. Zajac's first NHL goal came on October 7, 2006 against the DallasStars. Zajac is a big center who has excellent scoring potential, and is already responsible enough in his own end to earn ice time with the Devils.
