Brief history of golf cards

The earliest golf cards were tobacco issued cards from England. The first major manufacturer to produce golf cards in the U.S. was Donruss, with the release of their popular 1981 set. In the 1990's, Dallas based ProSet produced sets in 1990, 1991, and 1992, which was followed by several significant sets from Grand Slam Ventures. UpperDeck eventually received full rights to product golf sets, marking the release of TigerWoods 2001 UpperDeck RookieCard.
