Before the NBA fans in Charlotte had a chance to miss the former Charlotte Hornets the NBA granted Charlotte a new team. The owner of the Charlotte Hornets would break barriers by being the first African American majority owner in major sports history. Robert Johnson was the founder of Black Entertainment Television affording him the wealth to own a professional sports team. The Bobcats played their first game on November 4th, 2004.
