SummaryCut Autographs and their importance in the hobby

Cut Autographs feature an autograph that is "cut" from another source, and then inserted into a card. These cards are most common for deceased players, and allow AutographCards to be produced for players who otherwise would be unable to have autographed cards. These autographs can come from cheques, correspondance, older signed photos or autograph books. Some cards also feature autographs signed on hockey sticks.

The visual appeal of a cut autograph can vary greatly, depending on the design of the card around the cut, and also the suitability of the autograph chosen. Some autographs do not fit the window, or feature distracting backgrounds which detract from the look of the card. Regardless of these issues, cut autographs are still highly desirable cards. They usually feature highly desirable players, and they are very rare.
