The Fleer Corporation, in 2005 decided to end the making of all new sports cards and file for bankruptcy. The Upper Deck Company, who had acquired the Fleer name, began producing cards under that name and thus Fleer cards continue to be produced.

The FleerBankruptcy caused many headaches for collectors, as redemptions went unfulfilled, and the replacements many collectors received were not satisfactory nor comparable to what they were originally owed.

Exchanges

Fleer had bought baseball card producer Skybox Intl. in 1995.

The Fleer name was acquired via auction by The Upper Deck Company.
