The Minnesota Timberwolves basketball club was first established in 1990 as an expansion team. The club played its first season in the Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome (also home to the MinnesotaTwins and MinnesotaVikings). The following season, the Timberwolves moved into the newly built Target Center. The Timberwolves reached the NBA playoff for the first time in 1997 and reached the Western Conference finals for the first time in 2004.
