The Phoenix Coyotes were born out of the ashes of the WinnipegJets franchise, beginning in the 1996-1997 season. They have had many unremarkable seasons in the desert, but have one of the most notorious owners in the NHL, WayneGretzky. They have not made it past the first round of the playoffs during their tenure in Arizona.

Their current roster includes several notable names, including Canadian Olympians: CurtisJoseph, EdJovanovski, and ShaneDoan.
