Drossos from the ABA Dallas Chapparals and moved

to San Antonio

January 1974 Paid Virginia Squires for the rights to George Gervin

November 1974 Partnership lead by Drossos and Red McCombs buy the Spurs ABA Franchise

October 1976 Spurs join the NBA

May 1987 Spurs win the ‘87 NBA Draft Lottery – David Robinson

May 1988 Red McCombs buys out majority control of the Spurs

March 1993 Red McCombs sells the Spurs to local investors

November 1993 Spurs play first game in the Alamodome

September 1996 Holt Family becomes principal owner of the Spurs

May 1997 Spurs win the ‘97 NBA Draft Lottery – Tim Duncan

June 1999 Spurs win first NBA Championship

November 2000 Referendum passed by voters to build SBC Center
